Orthopedics

Aesthetic dentistry is not just about healthy teeth without cavities, but also about an attractive smile overall.

Tooth Restoration with Microprosthetics Inlay/Onlay/Overlay

If the tooth is severely damaged and most of the crown is missing, the dentist will recommend a restoration with ceramic microprosthetics such as inlays, onlays, or overlays, which are created in a dental laboratory according to individual requirements. These microprosthetics stand out for their aesthetics and higher durability compared to composite fillings.

Crowns in Aesthetic Dentistry

A crown is an effective and reliable way to restore broken teeth, or teeth that are severely damaged or completely lost. Modern dental crowns are comfortable, reliable, aesthetic, and indistinguishable from natural healthy teeth.

Today, the natural appearance of crowns, the shine, and the smoothness of the tooth enamel are essential components of aesthetic dentistry.

What type of crowns do we install?

1. Single tooth crowns.

They are placed in cases of severe destruction of the tooth crown – 50% or more. Crowns are also used to strengthen teeth after endodontic treatment or following trauma.

2. Crowns fixed on implants.

When a tooth is missing, an artificial root (implant) is placed in its place. A ceramic crown is the final stage of implantation.

Veneers – e-Max

Veneers can be made of porcelain – crafted with durable ceramics – and are made according to individual impressions in a laboratory. There are also composite veneers – created directly in the clinic during a single session. They are more affordable and prepared more quickly, but they tend to change color faster and are more sensitive to damage and breakage compared to porcelain. Veneers are thin layers that correct the outer surface of the teeth. This is one of the fastest, most comfortable, and most reliable ways to achieve the perfect “Hollywood” smile.

Veneers can eliminate defects in the color of crowns and composites, fluorosis, and tetracycline-stained teeth.

If there is erosion: the crown of the tooth has become shorter, and the smile doesn’t look youthful.

In case of dental trauma.
Thanks to veneers, you can give an aesthetic appearance to teeth whose shape or color has changed for various reasons (from bad habits to age-related changes).

Veneers will help if whitening hasn’t brought the desired results.
Veneers also allow you to close gaps between teeth without orthodontic appliances.

Veneers can correct irregularities in the dentition, but we are talking about minor defects here (if there are serious malocclusions, you will first need to see an orthodontist).

Ceramic or porcelain veneers are made from durable ceramics, and their placement requires several visits to an orthopedic dentist: preparation (dentists refer to the treatment of teeth for veneers as “preparation”) + taking impressions, confirming the shape of the new teeth, trial fitting, and then bonding or cementing them.

Most importantly, treat your teeth with love: maintain good oral hygiene at home, change your toothbrush regularly, have professional cleanings at least once every 6 months, and visit your dentist regularly.

FAQ

Frequently Ask Questions

We believe that such structures are unnecessary. A "bridge" made with ceramic crowns is placed with support on adjacent teeth. Therefore, the disadvantages are: inconvenience with hygiene, and the need to grind down the neighboring teeth. It is better to place an implant instead of the missing tooth and cover it with a crown.

    • They are more durable. They do not wear down, and the lifespan of ceramic crowns is 15-20 years.
    • They do not turn yellow or darken over time.
    • Hypoallergenic and highly biocompatible. They do not cause allergies or discomfort. As a rule, patients get so used to the crowns that over time, they can no longer distinguish between "old" and "new" teeth.
    • Ceramic crowns can be made as thin as 0.2 mm, and ceramic crowns are much thinner than metal-ceramic crowns, which allows us to minimally prepare the enamel (if the crown is placed over the tooth and not over an implant).
    • Ceramic restorations are fixed to the tooth and form a monolithic structure!

If everything is done correctly and according to protocol, then no. Caries can appear if there is a gap between the tooth and the crown. This is the entry point for infection. Microbes accumulate in the crevice, an unpleasant odor appears in this area, and the gums begin to inflame. This will not lead to anything good.

Even healthy teeth, with initially strong enamel, cannot withstand neglect of hygiene, let alone a weakened tooth that has gone through the root canal treatment process. Restored teeth require more careful attention than "natural" teeth. Proper care significantly increases the service life of the crowns.

Therefore, you should always have small brushes for the spaces between your teeth, a water flosser, and a properly chosen toothbrush with toothpaste in your arsenal.

And make sure to have regular professional cleanings at the dentist's office once every six months.
